Babysitting, Working in a Cafeteria, and Traveling to Atlanta

I was babysitting the kids I usually babysit about once a week. Theses kids are always hungry. Their mom has a ’schedule’ for when they can eat so they’re not begging for food constantly. But I accidentally forget to feed them lunch on time, so they are really hungry.

One of the boys goes and tries to make himself a grilled cheese sandwich, but he doesn’t know how to use the stove, so he toasts the bread and then tries to melt the cheese between the toast slices. It’s sad. Then I try to make them all real grilled cheese sandwiches, but I can’t find the stove.

All of a sudden I realize we aren’t in their house anymore, we are in some kind of school or camp cafeteria. I really want to get them grilled cheese sandwiches so I ask the cafeteria worker if I can use her stove and a pan (I already have the bread and cheese). She says yes but then her boss comes and makes me fill out paperwork. Brenda (the kids’ mom) comes and picks them up. I never get to make the sandwiches.

Then Sam finds me and we leave the kids to travel to Atlanta. We watch the sun rise as we are driving and it is beautiful. It seems like we are driving high above everything. We have to go through a long tunnel even higher up in the air, REALLY high, that is only one lane. It looks almost like a roller coaster that you drive through. It is scary and we are going real fast and the way Sam is driving is freaking me out.

Back again!

Ire-commenced working out today with an afternoon/early evening workout with my husband.

I would just like to take a moment to say how proud i am of him, btw.  He has worked out two days in a row this week, and it’s only Tuesday!

My workout felt a lot easier than it did last week, which is good.  I did about 10 minutes of cardio (5 wu/5cd) as well as push ups, lat pd’s, chest presses and ‘chin ups’.  Some uncomfortable popping in both shoulders, as usual, but no pain.

BOOOOO!!!

I didn’t work out today!!!

:(

I was just kind of not into it.  Plus, it’s Friday.  I plan on maybe ditching my usual Friday workouts and doubling up on Saturdays.  I think I will try this tomorrow and see what happens.

I did, however, work out yesterday!  Another bike ride.  Yay!

Today’s Leg Workout

I didn’t want to do it. It was kind of a bore. But I did it anyways. I’d better be sore tomorrow! I don’t feel exhausted at all which kinda makes me feel cheated.

The tough part was the squats. Smooth sailing from there on out.

I did notice on the elliptical that my right knee was kind of achy. It was also clicking on the outside again during curls, same as last week.

I kept everything the same this time and was able to do full sets of everything. Next time I will start experimenting with the weight :).

SOoooooooo sore…

I got up at 8 today. Was very tired and EXTREMELY sore. Mostly in the chest, but also in the back, bi’s.

Feel like I’ve been beat up, but in a good way. :)

Was great running weather today, but didn’t go. I did the bike instead and manipulated the intensity a bit more, had a very good light cardio workout. Maybe I should have gone for a run, but I think it would have been a bit painful. I read while I was on the bike and finished a little novel I had been reading. :) I have heard that if you read you can’t do as good a cardio workout, but i think that’s rubbish, as long as you are making sure you are sweating, breathing more heavily than normal, etc. At least on a recumbent bike.

Oh yeah: My right knee felt kind of ‘loopy’ on the bike, as if at certain points during the workout it kind of lost control.  At one point i gently palpated both patellas while cycling and felt the right one moving about a good bit more than the left.  I am hoping this is not a bad thing and that strengthening the joint by continuing to use it and doing leg extensions/curls as well as other exercises will give the joint more control.

What A Discouraging Way…

… to begin the week!

I can’t believe how much my strength has decreased. The only thing I finished with 3×15 was the chest work…weird.

My exercises for today were mod. push ups as above alternated with wide-grip lat pull-downs (2×15 and 1×12 @ 40#), then chest presses (low, narrow grip, 3×15 @ 20#) alternated with narrow-grip LPD’s (1×12 @ 40#, 1×10 @ 40#, then 1×15 @ 30 lbs. Haha!!!)

My forearms were on fire by the end of the workout, which is good because I know this will strengthen my wrists, which have really been bothering me lately. My shoulders were kind of irritable throughout, but not enough for me to change anything. Hopefully in a few weeks they will start to feel more ‘together’.

I think I need to use more rest in between sets and make this kind of more of a strength workout.  I was rushing today for my client at 8:30… who actually won’t be starting til July!  Booo!  Oh well.  I will be able to take my time from now on, so that’s good.

It wasn’t too hard waking up at 6 today…wait… yes it was.   I couldn’t do it.  I snoozed for a while and actually ended up waking up close to 6:20.  After I changed, did my QT, and ate, it was 7, time for me to go… but i napped on the couch for ten minutes instead!  LOL!  At least I tried, but from now on while Tracy’s away (til July) I think I will take the transition more gradually… :)

Enjoying My Chocolate Milk…

After a great strength workout.

I really only did one exercise, the leg press. I did 2×15 and then 1×12 at 90 lbs. It was great, I got a little dizzy when I stood up from the last set b/c of all the blood rushing down to the legs which might seem scary to some people but it’s kind of a rush for me. Don’t worry, I take my time getting up and down so there is no risk that I’ll fall or anything.

I used a lot of rest time in between sets. I want to get to the point where I am pyramiding with 12, 10, and 8 reps at max weight for each, but that will come in time. I think I will be able to break 100 very soon, like within a month. First things first, I will have to get used to doing 90 at 3×15. (o yeah- noticed some clicking still behind right knee, kind of in the hams, on extension.  Maybe the tendon sliding around something?  An adhesion maybe? I dunno.)

I then attempted to do some calf raises. Ha. I am always befuddled at the prospect of doing calf stuff without calf-specific equipment. Our leg press isn’t really set up so you can do them on that. I like having a negative ROM so I don’t want to do them on the floor. I tried standing on the edge of a step, then on a half-styrofoam-tube-thingy. Neither one worked very well. Sherman always just does them on the floor. Maybe I should adapt? :(

I cooled down with about 5 minutes of leg stretching, planks (one rep of each regular and obliques, 8 breaths) and 2×15 good mornings. I think doing good mornings once a week will really help my back, b/c I’ve been having some funny little twinges lately when I bend over.

The only thing I didn’t do, that I had thought about, was lunges. But my legs were totally gone after the presses. I will have to remember to try and do them first next Saturday! I think I will just drop the calves thing… for now…

PS Pretty much all my workouts take me only about 30 minutes each, including warm up and cool down. It will probably take me almost as long to write this post as it does to do one of my workouts.
